We have to seriously think and look upon at the unholy alliance between two parties with diametrically opposite principles. What I believe to be unholy alliance is the merging of two parties with completely difference believe and principles, that is between PAS and DAP. It is hard to believe that this can happen but it has happened. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has successfully influenced the stalwart of PAS and DAP that we should form a party named PR comprising of DAP, PKR and PAS. All of them agree to form the loose coalition in order to fight with BN in the last election. The coalition is loose and fragile and in no times it can dismantle itself. The coalition is successful only during the election because all the parties have the same common goal that is they all want to defeat their common enemies, the Barisan Nasional. The reason for the coalition is temporary and it works only during the election. They formed a loose coalition so that they can defeat the ever-non defeated champion that has ruled Malaysia since the last 50 over years, the Barisan Nasional. All of them are very determined to defeat Barisan Nasional that has never been defeated since independence and the poor performance of the Barisan Nasional government at that time accentuates the determination of the opposition parties.
The opposition parties form a coalition because they have the common goal and their common goal is to only to defeat their common enemies. Now the common goal that forms the basis of their coalition has disappeared. Without a common goal, how can these three parties be united and form a strong opposition party that can defeat Barisan Nasional. Many dreams that Malaysia should becomes like the United States of America, Australia and United Kingdom that have two strong political parties that keep one another in check. In those countries, no single party dominates like in Malaysia. When we have one single party that rules the country in the last 50 years then we will have a country rule by a dynasty. Umno leads the dynasty that rule Malaysia in the last fifty years. Since Umno leads, the dynasty that rules Malaysia in the last 50 years, Umno without knowingly has created many corrupt and rival warlords .All of these warlords wants to become the Kings and in order to becomes King they must forms their own armies within Umno. Many in Umno have becomes corrupted throughout the years since they saw the chance to become wealthy in Umno. Many join Umno only to do business, to become rich, and not to work for the peoples. Most join Umno because they want to uplift their own condition and not the condition of the people and the country. In my opinion, Umno is a sick old man and it needs treatments in order to continue to be relevant in Malaysia. Malaysians are not the same as when Umno was first established. Umno must change and to know the suggestion that I have made please read my article, The Malay saga-Umno.
Malaysian has only Barisan Nasional as a strong political party that can govern the country. In my opinion, we have no other choice other than Barisan Nasional to rule Malaysia. Malaysia needs another strong political party that can counter check Barisan Nasional and particularly Umno. Without having another strong political party, to counter check Barisan Nasional, Barisan Nasional particularly Umno will remain the party that will dominate the power in Malaysia. This is not good for the country. As we see it now Barisan Nasional particularly Umno has becomes a dynasty. Many Malaysians are not very happy with this development. Barisan Nasional is an alliance of three main parties and all the parties are racial base. Umno, which is the party of the Malays, is the main party in Barisan Nasional and the one that will always remain in power. Many Chinese and Indians particularly the young ones are not happy with this and they choose not to join MCA or MIC.Many Indians and Chinese who are born in Malaysia think that they should also have equal chance as the Malays to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Many Malays in my opinion are not willing to have a non-Malay and non-Muslim to be the Prime Minister of Malaysia but probably they are more ready to accept non-Malay but Muslims to be Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Malaysia has a problem and Malaysians themselves have to solve the problems. If we ignore the problems and we continue to say that, we do not have problems we are cheating ourselves. When the problems have grown to become a monster, we may not be able to solve the problems. Our problem arises because in the heart of every Malaysians there is racial sentiment. We cannot deny the racial sentiment that each of the races has and we cannot easily eliminate the racial sentiment that they have. Islam teaches us not to be racist and not to honor or disgrace anyone because of his or her race. Allah has made us Malays, Chinese and Indians and it is not our choice to belong to any race that we want .Allah wants us to honor and disgrace anyone in terms of their fear of Allah and not in terms of their race. When we want to built a strong and powerful Malaysia, we cannot build Malaysia based on race and colours of skin. We have to build a strong and powerful Malaysia based on qualities and the main qualities that all Malaysians should have is the fear of Allah. Racial prejudice will only disappear when Malaysians practice true Islam.
In my opinion the coalition between PAS and DAP is unholy since the basis upon which PAS is built is Islam while the basis upon which DAP is built is race. PAS is actually in dilemma as I have written please read my article, The PAS dilemma. On two different contradicting bases, two parties are not possible to join and form an opposition party. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is trying to tie these two opposite parties with his party,PKR and form PR. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is always talking about justice and wants to use this as a platform to establish the opposition party.DAP is working for justice of the Chinese people in Malaysia while PAS is working to establish justice in terms of Islamic laws and PKR is working for the justice of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. PR is a coalition of three parties built on three different bases and as such the party is not going to be very stable and PR are not going to be the alternative to Barisan Nasional. Malaysia has to find other ways to solve her problem and in my opinion, we will solve our problem when all Malaysians adopt the true teaching of Islam.
